Dino Discoveries at WBRL
On This Page
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is turning 40, and we're celebrating 40 years of bringing Alberta's prehistoric past to life! 10 libraries throughout Alberta will be home to pop-up exhibits highlighting some of Alberta's most incredible fossils. Visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum website for the list of locations you can check out during the pop-up.
Meet Borealopelta
Borealopelta markmitchelli is the world's best-preserved armoured dinosaur. Its link to Fort McMurray? Its fossil was found in a mine north of Fort McMurray in 2011!
Borealopelta lived more than 110 million years ago - that's a long time! Alongside a Borealopelta skull cast, the display includes drawers that house plant fossils that grew during the time Borealopelta roamed the earth.
This pop-up display will be available throughout the next year on the second floor of the library, near the paperback collection.
