We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Words in Motion Poetry Competition!
At a celebration hosted at WBRL on April 24, 2024, C. Masear, Agam Grewal, and Cathwyn Philpotts were awarded the top three poems overall.
Words in Motion is an annual competition celebrating the art of poetry in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Local poets submitted 238 original poems from November 2023 to January 2024. An external panel of judges featuring Jane Jacques, Elena Gould, and Jamal-e-fatima Rafat narrowed the field to 30 poems for inclusion in the 2024 Words in Motion Poetry Booklet and selected the top three poems overall.
The framed poems will be displayed on the first floor of WBRL until the end of May. You can also enjoy the booklet online.
